Norway’s Consulate General in Edinburgh reorganised

The Royal Norwegian Consulate General in Edinburgh will be reorganised to become a Royal Norwegian Honorary Consulate General from 1 October. The Norwegian Government has appointed the Chief Executive of Royal Zoological Society of Scotland, David Windmill, as new Honorary Consul General.

The Honorary Consul General’s consular districts will be City of Edinburgh, West Lothian, Midlothian, East Lothian and the Scottish Borders.

The Honorary Consulate General will in close cooperation with Innovation Norway, the Norwegian Embassy in London, Scottish Enterprise, and Scottish Chamber of Commerce work as a door-opener for Norwegian business interests and as a catalyst for Norwegian-Scottish business co-operation to develop projects which may increase the contact between Norwegian and Scottish business life. Main priorities will be to focus on previous successful initiatives but also find new projects where we have common interests.

The Honorary Consulate General will continue to work on Norwegian arts and culture projects in Scotland to ensure that Norway will be as strongly represented in the country as seen in previous years.

Furthermore, the Norwegian Consulate General will also deal with consular affairs, assisting the Scottish Norwegian communities, Norwegian nationals and provide information about Norway and Norwegian-Scottish relations to Scottish authorities and to the general public.
