Renowned Norwegian saxophonist Jan Garbarek and his band are touring the UK at the end of January, playing the atmospheric and quietly intense tones that characterise his music.

The last time they played for British audiences was at the London Jazz Festival in 2007 when the concert was sold out. Jan Garbarek’s career goes back nearly five decades and includes extensive touring in Norway and internationally, with, amongst others, Karin Krog, the Keith Jarrett Quartet, and Chick Corea. This has resulted in several best-selling recordings as well as concerts all around the globe.

Jan Garbarek Group consists of himself on saxophone, Rainer Brüninghaus on keyboard, Yuri Daniel on bass and a special guest, Trilok Gurtu, on percussion and drums. Their first ever live album, 'Dresden', is due for release on ECM record label this autumn.

The band will perform at The Sage Gateshead on 26 January, Town Hall in Birmingham on 29 January and in London on 31 January.
