Norwegian Christmas events in Scotland

Lighting Ceremony, Advent Concert and a Norwegian Christmas Fair.

On Saturday 14 November the annual Christmas Fair, “Julebasar”, will take place in Glasgow. There will be opportunity to buy Norwegian food and baking, Christmas decorations, knitwear, handcrafts, gifts and books. Traditional Norwegian food will be served in the cafe. The proceeds will go to the Norwegian Seamen’s Mission in Scotland and a project for Glasgow’s homeless.

The Norwegian Christmas Tree in Edinburgh will have its Lighting Ceremony 26 November on the Mound in Edinburgh. The lighting ceremony will take place in the presence of Mr. George Grubb, Lord Provost of Edinburgh, Mrs. Torill Selsvold Nyborg, Convener of Horadaland County Council, and the Norwegian Honaray Consul General, Mr David Windmill. There will be Norwegian Christmas Carols by performers from Scotland and Norway.

The traditional Advent Concert will be in St. Giles Cathedral 26 November.

This year, the Edinburgh University Chamber Choir will be accompanied by Rysstad (Vocal), Morken (Fiddle/guitar), Hystad(Saxophone) and Ulveseth (Bass).
