Experience Norwegian fjords in the summer

The popular round trip Norway in a nutshell takes you on a journey through some the most beautiful landscapes in Norway, land of the fjords.

Norway in a nutshell is one of Norway’s most popular organised trips, and offers some of the country’s most beautiful scenery, including the breathtaking Bergen Railway, the Flåm Railway, the Aurlandsfjord, the narrow Nærøyfjord and the steep Stalheimskleiva road.

Tours start from Bergen, Voss and Oslo and take place all year round.

The Bergen Railway was recently voted one of the world’s most beautiful train journeys. It offers spectacular and varied views, including of the blue ice of the Hardangerjøkul glacier, as it takes you over Northern Europe’s biggest mountain plateau.

The train journey on the Flåm Railway between Myrdal and Flåm is one of the highlights of the round trip, regardless of whether you travel up or down the wild Flåm valley. The 20-kilometres between the mountain station of Myrdal and the port of Flåm feature some of the most magnificent mountain scenery Norway has to offer – a shifting panorama of towering mountains and impressive waterfalls.

The fjord cruise takes you past the beautiful villages of Aurland and Undredal before entering the Nærøyfjord. Ringed by mountains up to 1800 meters high, this arm of the Sognefjord is the narrowest, and perhaps most dramatic, fjord in Europe, and has been included on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.

Another exciting experience is the Stalheimskleiva road, which twists and turns up through 13 hairpin bends, offering views of the Sivlefossen and Stalheimsfossen waterfalls along the way. At the top, you can admire the wild panoramic beauty from outside the Stalheim Hotel. The Stalheimskleiva road is open from May to September.
