Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) has announced three weekly services from Bristol International Airport with the launch of a new Oslo service.
The thrice weekly return service to Oslo is the second route launched this year by SAS from Bristol International Airport, and complements the airline’s seasonal summer Bristol to Stockholm service launched in June 2007.
From 1 April 2008 SAS will operate the new Oslo summer service which will represent an increased presence for the airline at Bristol International Airport. One way fares will start from only £29.00 including taxes, with travellers able to choose from Economy and Economy Extra class travel.
Commenting on the introduction of the new service from Bristol to Oslo, Lars-Ove Filipson, General Manager United Kingdom & Ireland, Scandinavian Airlines System said: “We have been delighted by the success of the summer SAS Bristol to Stockholm service which launched earlier this year, and which we plan to operate again in 2008. The launch of our new Oslo route builds on that strong performance and indicates SAS’ commitment to an ongoing relationship with Bristol International Airport and travellers in the South West region. We have seen strong demand for leisure travel between Bristol and Scandinavia and the introduction of this thrice weekly service means that SAS now offers an extensive choice of flights from Bristol to Scandinavia that no other airline is able to match in the South West.
We are expecting to see large numbers of leisure and business travellers taking advantage of the new route and flying to Oslo to explore Norway’s beautiful capital city and surrounding landscape whether for a business trip, a weekend escape, city break or adventure holiday in spring 2008.”
Tony Hallwood, Aviation Development Director at Bristol International Airport, said: “Following the success of their Bristol to Stockholm service this summer, SAS clearly see the huge potential of the South West market as a leisure destination for Scandinavians. The region proved to be a big hit with visiting Swedes, and the new flight between Bristol International and Oslo will now open up the South West to Norwegian business and leisure travellers. Oslo also becomes the seventeenth capital city served by a direct flight from Bristol, giving travellers from across the South West and South Wales another great city-break option, as well as opening up important business links with Norway for the first time.”
