Celebrate 17th of May at the Norway Inn in Cornwall

 Date:17/05/2007
 Type:17th of May Celebrations
 Location:England, Cornwall

The Norway Inn, which originates from the late 1700s, is for the third year in a row hosting a huge event to celebrate the 17th of May, attracting scores of Norwegian ex-patriots and students from the nearby university as well as locals.

The Norway Inn dates back to the late 1700s when wooden sailing ships from Norway navigated the six mile estuary inland from Falmouth to deliver timber that was used in the Cornish mining industry and at the nearby Perran Foundry.

Our experienced Head Chef Alan Poole has researched and created a special menu of authentic Norwegian dishes and Aquavit is on hand to toast the day too. In addition to the local Stythians Silver Band who will play in the early evening on the terrace, there will be further entertainment from Dalla, a group of local Celtic fiddle players who will play a selection on Scandinavian tunes. A fun general knowledge quiz will also run during the evening with funds being raised for the local Royal British legion that do a lot of good work in the community.
