The outgoing Government led by Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg was a coalition between the Labour Party, the Socialist Left Party and the Centre Party. It has been in power since 2005.
The change of government is the result of the 9 September election in which the Conservative Party, the Progress Party, the Liberal Party and the Christian Democratic Party together won a majority in the Storting (Norwegian parliament).
The Liberal Party and the Christian Democratic Party have chosen to remain outside the Government, but have entered into a political agreement with the Conservative Party and the Progress Party.
The new Government has 18 ministers, of whom 11 are from the Conservative Party and 7 are from the Progress Party.
See the list of new ministers.
The Government’s policy platform is available here (currently in Norwegian only).
