Norway Tops Prosperity Ranking

Norway is ranked the most prosperous country in the world in the Legatum Institute’s Prosperity Index, followed by Switzerland and Canada.

The Legatum Institute recently launched its Prosperity Index 2013, an annual ranking of 142 countries where countries are ranked according to a variety of factors such as economic growth, wealth and quality of life.

For five consecutive years Norway remains 1st place on the Prosperity Index, with leading scores in the Economy and Social Capital sub index.

The Economy sub-index shows that Norway’s performance within macroeconomic policies, economic satisfaction and expectations, foundations for growth and financial sector efficiency is at the top in the world. The Social Capital sub-index indicates that Norway is also one of the leading countries within volunteerism and donations to charities.

Norway has most notably moved up five places in the Entrepreneurship and Opportunity sub-index, due to the increase in internet bandwidth and the number of mobile phones per 100 people.
