The Norwegian Standing Committee on Justice visits London 16-18 September

Last updated: 16/09/2014 // On a two-day visit to London, the Norwegian Standing Committee on Justice will be in London to learn from the British experiences with the Police Reform, Emergency Services Coordination and Serious Crime.

The Committee, chaired by Ms. Hadia Tajik from the Norwegian Labour Party, will meet with representatives for the Cabinet Office, Home Office and Metropolitan Police, with the aim of sharing experiences and learning from the British Policing Structure and Police Reforms, as well as Emergency Services Coordination and work on serious crime.

The program includes a visit to the “Old Bailey”- the Central Criminal Court of England and Wales, and the Home Office. After a briefing at the Norwegian Embassy, the Committee will meet with Harriet Sergeant at the Centre for Policy Studies and the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners. At the Cabinet Office, the Committee will be given an overview of the UK Crisis Management and the National Risk Assessment, and the program also includes a visit to the National Crime Agency where they will be told about British experiences in combating serious crime. Other topics to be discussed are the work of the Metropolitan Police on youth crime and domestic violence.
