New direct routes from Scotland to Norway

City Star Airlines, currently operating between Aberdeen-Oslo, has acquired its third Dornier 328-110 aircraft to be based at Aberdeen. The company will be introducing two new routes which will commence on 10th October 2005.

Aberdeen to Stavanger Airport Sola will fly a return service twice daily, every weekday, with a Sunday service to follow.  Along with a new service Aberdeen to Kristiansund Airport Kvernberget which will also fly twice daily, Monday to Friday, with a Sunday service to follow.

The two new routes to Stavanger and Kristiansund are in response to feedback from its current corporate and leisure customers.

David Sinclair, Director of Operations at City Star Airlines says:

“The official launch of our new routes has been prompted by a direct response from our customers who currently have to travel to Scandinavia.  Our aim is to offer the opportunity for travellers to do a day’s work in Stavanger and Kristiansund and return in the evening, currently nigh on impossible.  The savings in time and, of course, expense for the business traveller in avoiding overnight stays and minimising travelling time, should be welcomed by the travel market.

The Monday to Friday service is due to start on Monday 10th October, with
provisional timetabling as follows:  (all times are local)

Depart Aberdeen 0655 Arrive Stavanger 0915
Depart Stavanger   0950   Arrive Kristiansund 1105

David continues

“The Dornier 328-110 is a modern aircraft which enables City Star Airlines to provide a high level of service within a 32 seat single cabin, with all (leather) club-style seats either window or aisle.  The Dornier 328 is the perfect aircraft for the business and leisure traveller making Stavanger reachable in less than 80 minutes.”

One aircraft will continue to remain available for charter work, with special interest groups, clubs, and other markets targeted.”

The continued growth of City Star Airlines shows its strong commitment to both Aberdeen and the North East market, along with the expanding leisure market in the area.

City Star Airlines Ltd. is an Aberdeen based company with shareholders from both the UK and Iceland.  The company is affiliated to Landsflug in Iceland who operate domestic services in that country.
