Mckenzie Medbø to support Bill Frisell

Edinburgh based  mckenzie medbøe are to support Grammy winning guitar pioneer Bill Frisell at the Usher Hall, Edinburgh at the end of this month. The concert at the Usher Hall on 31st October will be Frisell’s only stop in the UK as part of his world tour.

Formed in 2002, mckenzie medbøe combines the talents of Norwegian guitarist/composer Haftor Medbøe and Scottish saxophonist Sue Mckenzie. The duo has played to sell out events and critical acclaim in the USA, Denmark, England, Wales, as well as at home.

Their debut album “Charm” features the extraordinary Icelandic percussionist, Signy Jakobsdottir and Australian trombone maestro, Chris Greive who will join the duo for this performance. Playing a selection from “Charm” and the forthcoming album on Linn records, due for release in February 2006, their music draws on European improvised and folk influences with lush cinematic overtones.
