The English language edition of Åsne Seierstad's controversial work, The Bookseller of Kabul, is among the 10 books short-listed for the Best Read of 2003, part of the British Book Awards.
Seierstad's book was one of 269 nominated and the only translated work to reach the final 10, Aftenposten reports.
"British Book Awards can choose from all the books in the world, and they have chosen mine as one out of ten. That is quite something", Seierstad told Dagbladet.
Each of the nominated books and authors will be presented in the Richard and Judy TV program on Channel Four, a popular show with 2.2 million viewers, according to a press release from Cappelen, Seierstad's Norwegian publishers.
The prizes will be presented at on hour long televised show next April 9 where viewers vote for their favourite.
