The SAS Group airline, Widerøe, will commence new direct flights from the UK to Norway from 27 March 2006. The new services will complement Widerøe’s existing double daily services from Aberdeen to Stavanger and Bergen.
Widerøe is the largest regional airline in the Nordic countries with a turnover of NOK 2.3 billion and carrying 1.9 million passengers. Widerøe's Flyveselskap ASA operates 29 Dash 8 aircraft to 35 destinations in Norway and 6 destinations abroad. The company has 1300 employees.
SAS has an extensive network of approximately 1445 daily departures to 146 destinations worldwide including Scandinavia; Shanghai; Bangkok; Singapore; Beijing; Tokyo and Seattle.
Widerøe will operate four direct flights a week from Edinburgh to Bergen and twice weekly flights from Newcastle.
