General

Q: How do I find an address or telephone/fax number in Norway?

A: Try the International Directory Enquiries,  or access the
Norwegian Yellow Pages in English or the Norwegian on-line telephone directory here.  Bear in mind that the letters 'æ', 'ø' and 'å' appear at the end of the alphabet.
The international dialling code for Norway is +47. Norwegian telephone numbers have eight digits where the first two constitute the dialling code. Dial all eight, whether you are ringing within Norway or from abroad. 


Q: What mobile telephone systems are available in Norway and what areas do they cover?

Q: What is the voltage of the power supply in Norway?

A: The electricity supply in Norway is 230 V (same as the UK), but appliances up to 240 V will work. Plugs have two round pins, and adapters are available.

Q: What are the job opportunities in science, engineering and technology in Norway, and how do I find a job in these areas?

A: There is a great demand for software and systems engineers for information technology in all industrial and public sectors.

Offshore engineering and the areas of biotech engineering and manufacturing also lack highly qualified staff. Any EU/EEA national may apply.

English-speaking people with a fair knowledge of Norwegian have a good chance of getting a job. To find a job, read the Norwegian Aftenposten

Q: When can I see the Midnight Sun and the Northern Lights?
 
A: Both of these two natural phenomena are visible north of the Arctic Circle, one in the summer, the other in the winter.
