Passports and visas

If you are resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland and require a visa to visit Norway you can apply at the Consulate General in Edinburgh. We also assist Norwegian nationals needing passports. The passport and visa section is open between 10 am and 12 noon Monday to Friday. There is no need to make an appointment.

Please note that British citizens travelling to Norway on holiday do not require a visa.

Depending on the type of visa and the documentation provided processing time is normally 2-3 weeks. Visas are paid for at time of application. A Visa costs £25,- (until 31/12/06).

Passports for Norwegian nationals takes approximately 2-4 weeks. Passports issued through the Consulate General are machine-readable. Passports are paid for at time of application. Adult 10 year passports costs £80, children's passports cost £34.

Work and residence permits can take several months to process.
