Following a competition in the Evening News last week, a young girl from Livingston will travel to Norway with her family this weekend and be the first to see Edinburgh's Christmas Tree.
On Wednesday 26th October, the Evening News, in co-operation with Edinburgh District Council and Hordaland County Council, ran a competition for children aged between 6-11. The lucky winner was Isabel Victoria Stoneman from Livingston outside Edinburgh.
The family will fly to Bergen from Aberdeen and spend the weekend sightseeing and touring in Bergen with an especially assigned local guide.
The tree is due to arrive in Edinburgh Friday 11th November and will be lit, along with Edinburgh's Festive Lights, also by Isabel, on the opening night of the City's Winter Festivals.
The Opening Night of the Winter Festivals will take place in Lower East Princes Street Gardens (by the Scott Monument) on Thursday 24th November at 6pm (gathering at 5.45pm).
