Norwegian Band at the Aberdeen Jazz Festival

 Date:08/03/2006 - 12/03/2006
 Type:Culture, Music
 Location:Scotland, Aberdeen

Sasquatch was formed autumn 2005 and can be described as raw, open, energetic and melodic mix between free improvisation and structured arrangements.

Sasquatch was formed during the Autumn of 2005, by Dag Magnus Naversen and Magnus Rød Haugland. They wanted to create a band with an open and raw sound and decided to use three horns, bass and drums. The absence of a chord instrument makes the sound more powerful and raw and challenges the way of using the different instruments.

The music is strictly arranged and it gives room for an exiting mixture of strong melodies, energetic rhythms and contrasting improvisation. Sasquatch mix free improvisation and structured arrangements and the expression of the band is strongly rooted in the modern acoustic jazz tradition. Most of the music is composed and arranged by Dag Magnus Narvesen.

Line-up
Thomas Johansson – Trumpet
Arild Hoem – Alto Saxophone
Inge Breistein – Tenor Saxophone
Magnus Rød Haugland – Double Bass
Dag Magnus Narvesen – Drums
