In keeping with the wide range of the late Oddveig Røsegg's interest, the Scottish Norwegian Society has endeavoured to make the annual lecture cover various disiplines. Previous topics have been literature, archaeology and music. Considering Norway's centenary, it seemed appropriate to turn to history in 2005.
Dr Andrew Jennings will give a lecture entitled 'Empire and Nationhood - Scotland and Norway in the Nineteenth Century'. Dr Jennings is a history lecturer in the School of Scandinavian Studies at Edinburgh University and is currently co-operating with Dr Arne Kruse on a book about Scotland and Norway.
The lecture will be followed by a discussion, coffee and cakes.
