Through a major Northern European series of events during the Autumn of 2005, three Festivals in Edinburgh, Stavanger and Göteborg aim to explore the crucial questions and challenges we still face at the very beginning of the 21st century.
Leading writers, artists, intellectuals, scholars and scientists from all over the globe have been invited to give their views on topics like national sovereignty, mutual economic dependency, migration, exile, national and transnational identities, hybridisation of cultures, cosmopolitanism, regionalism, nationalism and postcolonialism.
What use are borders and national identities in a world increasingly unified by globalised business, the Internet, the media? Yet countries, cultures and mindsets remain doggedly different and nations still go to war over beliefs and territory.
Pico Iyer & Åsne Seierstad, two superbly experienced and insightful world commentators will, as part of 'Nations Unlimited' share various stories of different nations. Chaired by Peter Guttridge.
'Nations Unlimited' is a part of the 100 years anniversary for the peaceful dissolution of the union between Sweden and Norway in 1905. For more information, please visit: www.nationsunlimited.com
