The exciting Northern European Jazz Quartet featuring Norwegians Frode Nymo (alto saxaphone) and Håkon Mjåset Johansen (drums) along with English tenor saxophonist Dave O' Higgins and Swedish bassist Torbjørn Zetterberg will be whipping up an exciting evening of music at The Blue Lamp in Aberdeen and The Jazz Bar in Edinburgh.
18/06/2008 :: Frode Nymo is one of the most exciting European saxaphone talents to emerge for years. Håkon Mjåset Johansen is often described as one of the most dynamic and musical drummers in Scandinavia. Together with Tenor and Soprano saxaphone Dave O’ Higgins and Swedish bass player Torbjörn Zetterberg they form the mezmorising Northern European Jazz Quartet. Dave has played with Frode and Håkon before with Urban Connection (following the footstep os of Michael Brecker and Steve Grossman). The music they will be playing will include standards, tunes by Sonny Rollins & Steve Grossman, a tribute to Michael Brecker & one or two originals with a nod in the direction of Elvin Jones' Live at the Lighthouse sessions.
