Young director gets a chance in London

New pieces by highly acclaimed writers, Meredith Oakes and Jonathan Lichtenstein, have been commissioned and will be directed by graduating Directing BA students, including Norwegian Øystein Ulsberg Brager, and performed by graduating Actor Musicianship BA students at the BAC in London.

Meredith Oakes has written three short pieces, directed by Philip Thorne, Øystein Brager and Liz Skelcher. Jonathan Lichtenstein has adapted a radio play for the stage, directed by Elizabeth Newman and Joseph Thorpe

Meredith Oakes is a contemporary playwright of great distinction and versatility. Her play ‘Scenes From the Back of Beyond’ was performed at The Royal Court last November, and her libretto for Thomas Addison’s opera based on Shakespeare's ‘The Tempest’ is part of The Royal Opera House's repertoire. She has written these plays especially for the third year graduating students of directing and actor-musicianship to present as the final showcase of their degree course.
