Nordisco presents Ultimo Disco - Norway vs. Italy Special tonight at AKA in London with djs Bjørn Torske and Guglielmo Mascio
Settling in very nicely at our new monthly home (and just about feeling human again after our triple-pronged Easter weekender – thanks for everyone who came down and made it a never-to-be-forgotten Bank Holiday), Ultimo Disko are bringing two of their favourite DJs from the continent over to the AKA. In the blue corner, Norway’s very own dub disco merchant Bjørn Torske, a man with some of the oddest ass-shakin’ twelves you’re ever likely to come across.
As the daddy of the whole Scando-house scene and an instrumental figure in the Bergen/Tellé Records axis, Bjørn’s appearances in London are rarer than an Oslo-dweller without a scarf and hot toddy. His remix of Kango Stein Massiv’s ‘Lettbeint Liten Sak' is out very soon on Trailerpark and well worth fighting for.
And in the green corner, it’s Italian disco stallion Guglielmo Mascio. One of Italy’s most in-demand DJs at present, he’s an integral part of Rome’s Nu Funk Klan collective of DJs and party-starters. Guglielmo’s quite the fan of the old Italo disco too, having amassed a mighty swag of sexy, spaced-out sounds travelling his homeland.
Together they’ll be throwing down some of the best disco Europa you’re likely to hear on this side of the Channel. The trusty Ultimo Disko residents Zak Frost & Magic Jase will be wading into the ring too, spinning the very best underground house, electro-disco, Euro-jackers and forgotten bangers from way-back-when, while Finland’s Syrup Helsinki will once again be adding their own individual touch to the special effects.
