The voice behind SKY's True Colours advert...

You've probably seen the new SKY advert rolling across your TV screen every other minute and wondered who's singing that heart-rending version of Cyndi Lauper's ‘True Colours’? Well, here's the answer; it's one of Norway's most popular singers, Ane Brun.

Singer/songwriter Ane Brun, one of recent year's biggest success stories in her native Norway, released her debut album 'Spending time with Morgan' in 2003, and has since been pulling full houses on her frequent tours in Europe and winning numerous of musical awards. Her second album 'A Temporary Dive' was recorded together with the producer Katharina Nuttall. Much of the album’s content is a reflection of the year that followed the release of the debut “Spending Time With Morgan”. A year filled with both ups and downs according to Brun.

Despite generous offers from several major record companies, Brun chose to release her album on her own label DetErMine Records - licensed to V2 Music. Since the release of her debut album she has played gigs throughout Europe and shared stage with great artists such as PJ Harvey, a-Ha and Mary Gauthier.

A third album, 'Duets', released in Norway in November 2006, featured collaborations with artists such as Syd Matters, Ron Sexsmith, Wendy McNeill and Scandinavians Tobias Fröberg, Ellekari Larsson and Madrugada. The latter is Norway's best selling rock group and Brun's duet with the band 'Lift Me' shot to number one in the Norwegian singles chart before Christmas 2006 and stayed put well into the following year.

Last year, she released her first live album ‘Live in Scandinavia’, which included a collection of the songs from her three albums, but this time dressed up in new arrangements for strings. Ane's third studio album, ”Changing of the Seasons”, produced by Valgeir Sigurdsson (Björk, Múm, Bonnie Prince Billy, Coco Rosie, Maps, and more), was released earlier this year to great acclaim.

'True Colours' is not Ane's first successful cover, her version of Alphaville’s track 'Big in Japan' went straight to number one in Sweden's iTunes chart in September 2008.
