Karl Seglem creates exciting soundscapes that eliminate boundaries between musical genres. His new band has a modern acoustic sound with hints of electronic trimmings
Very few Norwegian musicians have been working with the unique Hardanger fiddle tradition from Norway - developing this music into something new. Saxophonist Karl Seglem's collaboration with master fiddler Haakon Hoegemo has been going on for twelve years - and Seglem's new band takes a big step further into new musical landscapes from up north.

LOCAL Norwegian music goes GLOBAL
In a number of CD releases Karl Seglem has made use of trad Norwegian folkmusic, especially Hardanger fiddle music, as a starting point for generating new musical spaces - his own mode of expression. The nucleus of the group consists of Seglem, tenor sax and goat horn; Haakon Hoegemo, electric Hardanger fiddle (Utla); Gjermund Silset, bass (KariBremnes and in recent years Mari Boine band); and Helge Norbakken, percussion (singer Maria Joao's and in recent years Mari Boine band).
