Millpond, a duo described as Norway's finest songwriters and skilful musicians, is touring the UK in November.
The duo consists of Rune Hauge and Kjersti Misje. Hauge is one of that rare breed of Norwegian musicians who combine their musical talents with expert knowledge of top-notch Norwegian and Anglo-American music traditions. He released his first album in 1995 - 'The One you need' - which earned him critical acclaim from all over Norway. In 1999, 'Taxi' was released as a follow-up album. Both releases were heavily influenced by both jazz and folk, and featured Hauge’s bluegrass and folk inspired guitar and Dobro playing as well as Per Jørgensen’s trumpet playing and vocals which conjure up a jazzier landscape.
Rune’s partnership with Kjersti Misje has taken him further down this road, and from the moment they started working together in 1999 they found an inclusive form. Kjersti Misje studied singing at Agder Music Conservatory’s Department for rhythmic music, specialising in vocal jazz traditions. In 1996 she moved to Bergen and has since appeared at a vast range of venues in Norway and the UK. Since starting to work with Hauge in 1999, she has also become one of Norway's finest songwriters and a skilful guitar player.
