A ‘little thing’ from Norway

Having emerged last year from her native Norway with the acclaimed 'Little Things' album, Hanne Hukkelberg has joined the British concert and festival summer with her own gigs.

Hukkelberg’s singing touches on multiple layers of feeling and is described as ‘infusing the music with an impish mirth beside a visceral sweetness, gliding up and down the musical scale like cotton candy spinning onto a stick. With the unique force of a Nina Simone, Cat Power or Stina Nordenstam, hers is  an unforgettable voice, bound to an almost sacred, heady swathe of  music. A palpable sense of weightlessness abounds; her songs seem to dance on air, with an essence of enchantment and otherworldly bliss.’

Born in 1979, she started singing and playing instruments at the age of three. Throughout her youth and musical education, Hukkelberg was a vocalist in various constellations, covering genres like jazz, rock, metal and free-jazz.
