Star pianist Håvard Gimse and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra perform in an all-Beethoven programme conducted by Yakov Kreizberg in Poole, Bristol and Exeter
Håvard Gimse (from Kongsvinger, Norway) has established himself as one of the leading Scandinavian international pianists. After gaining his Diploma at "Hochschule der Künste Berlin" in 1995, he studied with professor Jiri Hlinka in Norway.
Excellent reviews have been assigned to Gimse as a recitalist, (recently London Wigmore Hall Young Masters Series and New York Frick Collection), for his orchestra performances, (his New York Lincoln Center orchestra debut in 1994 was given a splendid New York Times review),and for a great number of CD recordings (Naxos,Naim,Simax,Chandos, Sony).
Håvard Gimse has performed with Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Welsh National Symphony Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Prague Symphony Orchestra, Frankfurt Radio Orchestra, Belgian National Philharmonic Orchestra, Janacek Philharmonic, Finnish Radio Symphony, and orchestras throughout Scandinavia and Latin America. Conductors include Berglund, Wallberg, Segerstam, Soustrot, Kitajenko, Frühbeck de Burgos, Honeck and Engeset. International orchestra tours include Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra to Great Britain, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra to Austria, France,Holland and Croatia, Janacek Philharmonic to Tokyo, and Thuringen Philharmonic in Spain.
Since 1997 Gimse has been assistant program manager of the Oslo Chamber Music Festival.
“With an incredible energy and perfect technical command (the conductor transformed himself into music: there was no difference between the music and the gestures of Kreizberg, they were one and the same thing) and an incomparable charisma, this Russian made the musicians reach a state of an unusual interpretative "trance" which touched the audience.”

The Russian-born American conductor Yakov Kreizberg has established a superb international reputation both in the opera house and on the concert podium. He holds the posts of Chief Conductor and Artistic Advisor of the Netherlands Philharmonic and Netherlands Chamber Orchestras and Principal Guest Conductor to the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. With the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra he will regularly record with PentaTone Music: their first recording which featured Schmidt's Symphony No. 4 was highly praised upon release last season.
