Welcome to a summer of festivals in Norway

Summer is festival season in Norway. Norwegian and international artists, including The Scissor Sisters, Killers and My Chemical Romance, will be performing on stages across the country into the light summer nights.

The long light evenings fill people with energy and joy of life. Every summer both large and small festivals are held in Norway with artists and audiences from all over the world. Perhaps there is something on this list to tempt you?

Norwegian Wood, Oslo, 14–17 June
Brian Wilson (Beach Boys) and Travis are the main attractions at this popular pop and rock festival in the capital.

Hove, Arendal, 26–-30 June
A new festival with an exciting rock-inspired programme topped by My Chemical Romance, Killers, Slayer and Queens of the Stone Age..

Quart, Kristiansand, 2–6 July
A well established festival in the south of the country. The main attractions this year are The Who, Scissor Sisters and Beastie Boys.

Kongsbergjazz, Kongsberg, 4–7 July
Ornette Coleman, Erica Stucky, Mari Boine and Dee Dee Bridgewater are on the programme for this year’s long-standing jazz festival.

Moldejazz, Molde, 16–21 July
At this year’s Moldejazz you will be have the chance to hear Steely Dan and Elvis Costello and the New Orleans legend Allen Toussaint on one and the same evening.

Notodden Bluesfestival, Notodden, 2–5 August
Norway’s largest blues festival. This year, Omar Kent Dykes and Jimmy Vaughan’s “Jimmy Read Highway” are among the big names.

Øya, Oslo, 8–12 August
The high points at this rock festival in the capital will be Tinariwen and Roky Ericson, and there are many other exciting names on the programme, such as CocoRosie, Bonde Do Role, Yo Majesty and Boredoms.
