Norwegian duo Datarock, whose music is described as uproariously sleazy, sexually ambiguous, camp-disco-synth-pop, are back in the UK again after releasing their debut album in July
Datarock's next UK gig takes place at The Luminaire, in Kilburn, London, on 14 August. The duo consists of Fredrik Saroea on vocals, guitars, drums and keyboards, and Ketil Mosnes on bass, programming, keyboards as well as backing vocals. The boys are from Bergen, the very same city that in recent years has produced international success stories such as Röyksopp, Kings of Convenience and Annie.
The duo take their inspiration from bands like Devo, Talking Heads and the Happy Mondays, and have a genuine DIY attitude; they produce all their music themselves as well as their artwork and website. Through their energetic and unique live performances, which started in 2000, Datarock caught people’s imagination instantly, and not just in Norway. Following some smaller releases, the duo released 'Datarock Datarock' last year in Norway on their own label, Young Aspiring Professionals. The duo released the album 'Datarock datarock' on 3 July.
