The Norwegian choir "Den norske Homofonien av 1990" (The Norwegian Homophonia of 1990) will participate in a concert in the Purcell Room on 1 May at 1.30pm, as part of the Various Voices choir festival.

Den norske homofonien av 1990 is a mixed choir based in Oslo.  The choir is affiliated to the Norwegian LGBT Association and consists of about 35 singers, men and women of all ages, directed by Ingelin Becker Dahl.  For the concert on 1 May the choir will perform a varied set of Norwegian folk songs, jazz standards and other favourites. The concert will also include performances by Cantatori del Duomo from Utrecht and Sweet & Power from Bern.

Various Voices is a pan-European gay choral festival that takes place every four years, with cities competing for the honour of hosting the event. The last Various Voices, in 2005, was held in Paris. This year's festival, based at London's South Bank Centre, aims to be a fun, interesting and artistically diverse festival that is welcoming to everyone, straight or gay.
