Nils Økland with the BBC Concert Orchestra

 Type:Culture, Concert
 Location:England, London

Nils Økland plays Hardanger Fiddle with the BBC CO at Queen Elizabeth Hall in a programme that explores the music of Norway, including a new piece by BBC CO Composer in Association Anne Dudley

Geirr Tveitt's music is rooted in the folk music of Hardanger where he lived in western Norway. Like Bartok in Hungary, Tveitt scoured the countryside notating folk tunes which inspired his own compositions. His second Hardanger Fiddle concerto is full of irresistable charm and is performed by Nils Økland, one of Europe's finest Hardanger players.

Anne Dudley's new piece is inspired by this Nordic adventure and sits alongside Edvard Grieg's Norwegian Dances. Once again the evening is presented by Late Junction's Fiona Talkington.
