‘Peter & the Wolf’ wins Oscar Award

‘Peter & the Wolf’, an animation film co-produced by Norwegian Storm Studio, received an Oscar for Best Animated Short Film on 24 February 2008.

The 2006 version of the classic 1936 tale by Russian Sergei Prokofiev, directed by Suzie Templeton, competed with four other short films for the Oscar statue for Best Animated Short Film. 

The story is about a boy, who is not scared of anything, and his animal friends and their encounter with a hungry wolf in the Russian countryside. The 30 minute long film had its world premiere at the Royal Albert Hall in London in 2006, accompanied by live music from the Philharmonia Orchestra. The film received the Annecy Cristal award and Audience award at the prestigious Annecy International Animated Film Festival in France in 2007.   

Norwegian Lars Hellebust, from film production company Storm Studio, is an executive producer of the film. The company, who specialize in 3D animation, has also produced award winning ‘Free Jimmy’.

Last year Norwegian animator Torill Kove won an Oscar for her short animation film ‘The Danish Poet’.
