Venue Magazine (Bristol & Bath) 23 April 2004
It’s kinda fitting really. Only a few weeks ago, actress Tara Fitzgerald was giving her all as Nora in Ibsen'’ tragedy ’A Doll’s House’ at Theatre Royal Bath, and now here’s Norwegian artist Heidi Morstang exhibiting a video piece inspired by the same play at Bristol’s ROOM gallery. Co-organised by Bristol moving image outfit Picture This, Heidi’s show also includes a piece about Scandinavian high divers – called, as you might expect, ’Divers’ – and the two pieces both reputedly ”evoke the vastness and the intimacy of the Norwegian landscape”. In line with ROOM’s impeccable reputation for only hosting the very best of contemporary art (the Redcliffe house-turned-gallery scored a coup with a showing of Bill Viola videos), this is definitely a not-to-be-missed chance to see more new work by an artist whose previous includes solo shows at Watershed and group exhibitions at prestigious galleries across Europe. The exhibition runs until 9 May. ROOM is open to the public from 12noon–7pm Wed-Sun.
