The ‘dream’ theme has been a constant throughout out Norwegian artist Kristin Vestgard’s career, and the results can been seen in her paintings at an exhibition in Cornwall.
Like the dreams of the day, when you let your mind wonder to unknown landscapes of the imagination, Vestgard's paintings exist in a timeless space, where humans interact without conversation, place or time, they are reminisces of the past, eternal and without boundaries. Vestgard uses paint with lightest of touch, yet expressive and free. “I paint out of my inner world, it has dreams, fantasies and inner adventures tangled within the pure reality, playing between the restless and standing still, always in flux… a playfulness running in and out of the layers of oil paint, with a deep sincere essence holding it all together.”
Badcocks Gallery opened in 2000, and is the only independent gallery in Newlyn. Co–owners Mimi Connell and Nickie Carlyon have spent a large part of their working careers developing and nurturing a broad understanding of 20th century contemporary and 21st century modern art through monthly shows at Badcocks Gallery.
