Norwegian artist Eline McGeorge returns to Hollybush Gardens, London, for a new solo exhibition in which carrying forward the spatial and conceptual focus of her practise.

The exhibition will also add further elements introduced in her latest solo show at Fotogalleriet in Oslo in May 2007. “My new installation will consist of constructed walls that will work as a division and a manipulation of the space, referring, corresponding and intervening with the works the space contains; reflecting the transformation of space and shapes in the collages, montages, drawings, sculptures and animation that will take part in the installation,” she says.

This construction will be both a visual and a functional element in the show, the latter by being background material for the projection, protecting the projection from light from the gallery windows and creating a contained habitation of the other works in the show.

‘The drawings and animations mediate between two and three dimensional space, extending into a communication system where idea and material have corresponding value within a domestic sensibility, that tips over into the unknown,” explains Lisa Panting, director with Hollybush Gardens. “Paper objects, made out of straightforward folds, often gather in corners to climb up walls. Other sculptures are more structurally sound. Made of folded plastic and spray painted they most liken marquettes of Modernist architectural experimentation, without the grandiose gesture that this may once have implied.”
