Up-and-coming artist Brede Korsmo will take part in ‘Articulated’, a cross disciplinary art exhibition commissioned by Nokia Nseries which will be transforming the OXO Bargehouse on London’s South Bank with a series of multimedia installation.

The exhibition, which is arranged by The Light Surgeons, a collective of designers, film makers and musicians best known for their pioneering design of visual displays at clubs, commercial events, music tours and exhibitions, brings together a cross section of artists from diverse backgrounds whose works unravel a multitude of human stories in the modern metropolis. Visitors to the Bargehouse are invited to re-experience the everyday through the exhibition where they can engage with interactive works, short films and live performance and theatre.

Brede Korsmo (born in 1976 in Oslo), completed his Foundation in Art & Design at Arts Institute at Bournemouth in 1999 before studying for a BA in Graphic & Media Design at The London College of Printing. After graduating in 2002, Korsmo began working as a multidisciplinary visual artist, mainly with 2D print and digital video. He now lives and works in East London.

Nokia Nseries commissioned the exhibition to encourage an exploration of our connected lives. Chris Allen of the Light Surgeons said: “The mobile phone has become the amulet of the modern day; protecting us from being socially disconnected and has blurred the boundaries between what is public and private space.  With the advent of camera and video phones, millions of us have advanced communication devices in our pockets which allow us to record, send or publish our thoughts and everyday lives to a global audience via an internet connection.  This democratisation of the media presents us with many new and exciting possibilities, the convergence of digital art and other arts and culture being just one of them – ‘Articulated’ is a dramatisation of this.”

With Nokia Nseries, such multimedia devices are now readily available to the general public. Rachel Wright, marketing manager, Nokia UK said: “We’re delighted to be involved with this innovative project. Nokia Nseries has become synonymous with high-performance multimedia experiences and this exhibition forms part of a long term programme that reflects our commitment to leading the way in the new Internet-driven multimedia space. The Light Surgeons are leading the way in the digital art arena and ‘Articulated’ is an excellent reflection of the multimedia experiences the Nseries brand offers - it’s really exciting to be able to marry art and technology in this way.”
