Norwegian artists at Collect 2008

Collect, the international art fair for contemporary objects, was on from 25 - 29 January at the V&A; in London. The Norwegian gallery Format presented eleven Norwegian artists at the fair, while London gallery Flow had two, and Dutch gallery Ra had one Norwegian artist.

30/01/2008 :: Organised by the Crafts Council, Collect is an important annual event in the art world and a central meeting place for collectors, museum conservators, art buyers and artists. Collect 2008 had over 400 international artists represented by 42 galleries from 16 countries. A number of influential galleries from countries such as Australia, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Japan, South Korea, Sweden, Germany, England and Scotland took part.

The Norwegian gallery Format, based in Oslo and Bergen, presented eleven Norwegian artist at Collect 2008, which took place from 25 - 29 January. The artists represented by Format were Marit Helen Akslen and John Kåre Raustein with textiles, Ulla-Mari Brantenberg and Ingrid Nord glass, Tulla Elieson and Kari Brovold Hagen ceramics, Lise Schönberg, Konrad Mehus and Heidi Sand jewellery, Lillian Dahle wood and Ansgar Ole Olsen metal. London-based gallery Flow presented Norwegian textile artist Åse Ljones and Karen Klim with glass. Norwegian jeweller Sigurd Bronger was represented at Collect by Dutch gallery Ra. 
 
Gallery FORMAT, owned by The Norwegian Association of Arts and Crafts, is a showplace for arts and crafts with galleries in both Oslo and Bergen. The galleries together have 350 arts and crafts artists and an extensive and varied selection of ceramics, glass, jewelry, textiles and wood. Each year there are four solo exhibitions in each of the galleries.
