Norwegian artists at Collect 2007

Ten Norwegian artists, all represented by Gallery FORMAT, will exhibit at the renowned annual art fair Collect 2007 at London’s Victoria & Albert Museum in February.

This is the first time a Norwegian gallery is represented at the fair, which takes place from 8 - 12 February Victoria & Albert Museum. Gallery FORMAT will present the following Norwegian artists: Torill Bjorg, Liv Blåvarp, Jens Erland, Tuva Gonsholt, Ingjerd Hanevold, Kari Håkonsen, Marit Eken Kalager, Vidar Koksvik, Tove Lise Røkke Olsen and Elisabeth von Krogh. In addition, the Norwegian textile artist Trine Mauritz Eriksen will be represented by Gallery Flow (London), and metal artist Sigurd Bronger from Norway will be at Gallery RA’s stand (Amsterdam).

Gallery FORMAT is a national showplace for arts and crafts, owned by The Norwegian Association of Arts and Crafts, with galleries in both Oslo and Bergen. The galleries together have 350 arts and crafts artists and an extensive and varied selection of ceramics, glass, jewelry, and textiles. Each year there are four solo exhibitions in each of the galleries. Both The Norwegian Association of Arts and Crafts and Gallery FORMAT receive support from the government.

An important annual event in the art world, the art fair Collect is a central meeting place for collectors, museum conservators, art buyers and artists. A number of influential galleries from all over the world will take part, including from Australia, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, England and Scotland. A series of seminars will be held in conjunction with the fair, and Craft Magazine will publish a special issue presenting the participating galleries.
