The Norwegian vocal group Trio Mediæval, joined by percussionist Birger Mistereggen, will be performing three concerts in the UK in October to promote their new album ‘Folk Songs’. They will also appear on BBC Radio 3 in October.
Founded in Oslo in 1997, Trio Mediæval has developed three distinct strands of repertoire: polyphonic medieval music from England and France, contemporary works and Norwegian medieval ballads and songs. The trio consists of Anna Maria Friman, Linn Andrea Fuglseth and Torunn Østrem Ossum and has given concerts and radio broadcasts throughout Europe, in the U.S. and Canada. The trio last performed in London at the Norwegian Christmas concert in St. Martins-in-the-fields in December 2006.
‘Folk Songs’ is the trio’s fourth album since their debut, ‘Words of the Angel’, was released in 2001. The trio has been joined by a fourth person, percussionist Birger Mistereggen both on the album and the tour. The concerts in the UK will take place in Cambridge, Sheffield and York at the end of October. The group will also appear on the BBC Radio 3 program In Tune on 29 October. After the concerts in the UK, Trio Mediæval will continue their tour in Germany, France and the U.S.
