Norwegian Focus at The Great Escape

The Great Escape, the leading European new music festival showcasing acts from all over the world, had a focus on Norwegian music with ten Norwegian acts this year. The festival took place in Brighton from 15 – 17 May.

Over 200 new local and international artists were showcased at 25 venues over 3 days in Brighton. An important area of the festival programme was the wealth of talent brought to Brighton from all over the world to perform at the festival. Each year a country is selected and spotlighted in the line-up. Norway was the focus country of the festival this year. The Norwegian musicians who performed at the festival were Accidents Never Happen, Ane Brun, Casiokids, Dylan Mondegreen, Ida Maria, Nils Bech, Sigh & Explode, Silje Nes, the Lionheart Brothers and Ungdomskulen.

‘In the years we’ve been running The Great Escape we’ve had some fantastic artists from all over the world, but one country we’ve always been able to depend on for cutting edge talent is Norway. With the launch of Music Export Norway’s office in London this year and the emergence of some new and exciting bands we feel the timing is perfect to make Norway our lead country for The Great Escape Festival and Convention,’ explains Jon Mcildowie from The Great Escape.
