Innovative musicians to Gateshead

To celebrate the release of their recent album, two of Norway's most innovative musicians, Arve Henriksen and Jan Bang, will be playing at the Sage Gateshead near Newcastle on 27 October.

Recognised as one of the most innovative musicians of the current Norwegian generation, Arve Henriksen is a charismatic and spell-binding performer who can be heard in a myriad of settings, with cult techno improvisers Supersilent, and with musicians and composers such as Trygve Seim, Iain Ballamy, Dhafer Youssef, the Christian Wallumrod Ensemble and many more.

He also works regularly with Jan Bang, the electronics wizard who is the musical leader of Norway's Punkt Festival, and collaborates with Jon Hassell, Sidsel Endersen, Nils Petter Molvær and DJ Strangefruit. Punkt is a ground-breaking Festival from Kristiansand in southern Norway, which brings together some of the country's finest and most original contemporary musicians into creative dialogue with artists from the UK and beyond...a mind-expanding collision of acoustic and electronic sound masterminded by Jan Bang and Erik Honoré.

This tour celebrates Arve Henriksen’s and Jan Bang’s recent album release, ‘Carthography’.
