BBC Proms 2013 takes place in Cadogan Hall and Royal Albert Hall from 12 July to 7 September. We believe this year sees more Norwegian acts than ever before!
Violinist Vilde Frang, trumpetist Tine Thing Helseth and her 10-piece brass ensemble tenTHING, pianist Christian Ihle Hadland, violinist Terje Tønnesen and the Oslo Philarmonic Orchestra can be seen and heard in Cadogan Hall and Royal Festival Hall.
All performances are also broadcasted live on BBC Radio 3.
The first Proms concert took place on 10 August 1895 and was the brainchild of impresario Robert Newman, manager of the newly built Queen's Hall in London. His aim was to reach a wider audience than the symphony orchestra concerts at the hall, and all these years later we can state that he was succesfull in achieving his aims!
