Long live the Kings!

Kings of Convenience’s much anticipated new studio album is out 19 October.

‘Declaration of Dependence’, Kings of Convenience’s third studio album, will be released in the UK October 19th after three concerts in Bexhill, London and Coventry.

The Norwegian indie folk-pop duo, consisting of Eirik Glambek Bøe and Erlend Øye have played together for several years and are significant names on the Norwegian music scene. The band says about their new album that they are proud to have made “the most rhythmical pop record ever that features no percussion or drums.”

Their album Declaration of Dependence also marks the beginning of a new era for the duo. The record began to take shape in February 2007 when they met up on the same beach in Mexico that is pictured on the album’s cover. The pair came together to play a concert in the city the following month, the first time they had appeared together in more than two years. They shared a feeling that there was another record to be made.

Eirik Glambek Bøe and Erlend Øye are both back in their hometown Bergen after Erlend Øye spent five years in Berlin. Their debut album “Quiet is the new loud” (2001) became an instant hit in Norway and abroad, and the duo waited four years before they released their subsequent record “Riot on an Empty Street” in 2005.
