The two Norwegian films “Twigson” and “The Liverpool Goalie” have been selected to the Dicovery Film Festival, Scotland’s International Film Festival for Young Audience which runs from 22 October to 6 November.
Twigson (Knerten)
Poor Junior has plenty of time to play, but no one to play with. His family has just moved to a ramshackle house in the country and he doesn`t know anyone. His father is a travelling underwear salesman and his mother is busy at the shop with her grumpy boss. Junior is pretty lonely, until he finds a very special twig called “Twigson” – a twig who can talk! Before long they`re getting into all kinds of scrapes in the woods with the oddball neighbours. This is an adorable, quirky film about friendship, families and moving home. Based on the children`s book series Lillebror and Knerten by Anne-Cath. Vestly. Twigson was a huge hit in Norway. Director Åsleik Engmark.
The Liverpool Goalie (Keeper`n Til Liverpool)
This award-winning comedy is outrageous, funny and clever. Jo can`t play football because he`s scared of the ball. His mother has scared him off almost everything since his dad died years ago in a freak accident. Being made the goalie in his school team isn`t helping, neither is the fact his new crush Mari is a hot-shot player on the girls` team
Jo`s friends are trading card mad, but one is missing – The Liverpool Goalie. As the boys compete to be the first to find it, things turn nasty. Suspecting the school bully of stealing it. Jo breaks into his house with hilarious and disastrous results. His overactive fantasy life has made him fail to notice an old friend in trouble. Inspired by Mari, he has a chance to stand up for himself, and his friends. Winner of the Crystal Bear Award at the 2011 Berlin Film Festival. Director Arild Andresen.
