On 3-8 September, Norwegian London-based designer Kristel Erga’s MA exhibition is taking place at the Chelsea College of Art and Design.
Erga has specialised in creating wallpaper and décor, and through the “Zero Waste-Land” project, the young designer documents how textile scrap can be recycled into raw material for new production. The project, which draws on production surplus from Norwegian fashion designer Leila Hafzi, is the foundation for Erga’s MA exhibition.
Kristel Erga, who was born in Stavanger, Norway in 1984, graduated from Nueva Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan in 2009. During Oslo Fashion Week she was picked as a talent to watch in the future. As her MA exhibition shows, Erga is concerned with the amount of waste coming from the fashion industry, and this autumn and winter she also participates in “Textile Waste as a Resource”, an international competition staged by the National Institute for Consumer Research and the Nordic Fashion Association.
