Four Norwegians in Carnegie Art Award exhibition

The Carnegie Art Award was established to promote Nordic contemporary painting and is today one of the world’s largest art prizes. On show will be 24 of the most prominent contemporary Nordic artists including third-prize winner Olav Christopher Jensen and three other exciting Norwegian artists

In order to capture the current state of Nordic contemporary painting the nominated artists were invited to submit up to five works of art which were produced during the last two years.

A jury of eminent experts selected the works of art to be part of the exhibition without paying attention to nationality or gender or to earlier production of the applying artists. The jury also compiled the exhibition and appointed the award winners based on the works of art in the exhibition.

The event consists of an exhibition which tours the Nordic countries, a book presenting the participating artists and their works, a film portraying the artists, and awards to three of the artists for their works of £74,600, £44,800 and £29,800, as well as a scholarship of £7,500 to a young artist.

The Carnegie Art Award prize winners:

First prize winner | Nina Roos, Finland
Second prize winner | Anette H Flensburg, Denmark
Third prize winner | Olav Christopher Jenssen, Norway
Scholarship | Elina Brotherus, Finland
