Following the launch of their fifth issue this month, ’A Doll’s House’ (ADH) fanzine presents an exhibition featuring selected artists and photographers’ interpretations of the female figures in Norwegian artist Edvard Munch’s work.
The exhibition, which according to ADH is ‘a visual journey through the female psyche, as well as a modern day tribute to one of the finest artists of the 20th century’, will be showcased as part of the 'ÖÖ: Was it a dream?’ project- a pop-up gallery and concept store displaying work by young creative talents from Nordic countries.
ADH editor and photographer Hilde Holta-Lysell says the inspiration for the fanzine’s fifth issue, came from Munch’s “vivid interpretations of the deep-rooted feelings of life, death, love, angst and insanity, which are seemingly as painfully real today as they were 100 years ago.”
“As well as examining his own tormented soul, Munch also attempted to explore women’s different emotional and psychological states in various stages of life,” Holta-Lysell writes.
The results of the artists’ Munch-interpretations can be viewed from the 14-24 September in Soho, London.
