The Consulate General also provides general information about Norway, advise on Norwegian rules and regulations and keep updated lists on Scottish-Norwegian Events and Friendship Societies. There is also a collection of videos, CD's, records and books both in English and Norwegian which are readily available for the public to borrow. Please contact us for details.
For foreign nationals we assist in matters regarding applications for visas and residence and work permits. Scotland also has a large Norwegian population, and the Consulate General issues passports to Norwegian nationals and translations of official documents. To promote Norwegian business in Scotland, The Scottish Norwegian Business Forum was set up in 1988. The aim of the Forum is to work as a door opener for Norwegian business interests and a catalyst for Scottish- Norwegian business co-operation. The 90 members are also kept up to date on Scottish and Norwegian market trends and developments.
The Norwegian Seamen's Mission has a representative in Edinburgh, and some services are conducted in Norwegian. The Norwegian Student Chaplain covering Great Britain, Ireland, France, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Monaco visits regularely.
