King and Queen of Norway arrives in London

In an official ceremony at the Horse Guards in London, Their Majesties the King and Queen of Norway were welcomed to the UK for their three-day special visit.

Their Majesties the King and Queen of Norway travelled Tuesday morning on the Norwegian Royal yacht ‘Norge’ from Greenwich for the Pool of London. They arrived at Royal Naval Reserve Headquarters berth, H.M.S. President and were met by the Princess Royal and Rear Admiral Timothy Laurence on behalf of the Queen. Their Majesties, accompanied by Their Royal Highnesses and Rear Admiral Timothy Laurence, then departed Millbank by car for the Horse Guards where a short ceremony took place. Hundred specially invited guests from Norwegian institutions such as the Norwegian School in Wimbledon, were present as the Norwegian national anthem played before Their Majesties, accompanied by Their Royal Highnesses and Admiral Laurence left in a carriage procession with a Sovereign’s Escort of the Household Cavalry involving 100 soldiers and horses for Buckingham Palace.

The programme for Their Majesties The King and Queen of Norway's Special Visit to the United Kingdom, from October 25th to 27th, includes several cultural and business-related seminars as well as visits to important landmarks and institutions.

The streets around Buckingham Palce were crowded with spectators as well as British and Norwegian flags.

The horses and soldiers are lined up at the Horse Guards waiting for Their Majesties.

The carriage with The King and Queen of Norway was pulled by six white horses as it left the Horse Guards.

Queen Sonja waves to the crowds who lined up the streets. Along in the carriage were HM King Harald and The Princess Royal.
