HM Queen Elizabeth welcomes The King and Queen of Norway

A carriage procession from the Horse Guard took Their Majesties to Buckingham Palace where they were welcomed by The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh.

The Mall, the avenue which leads up to Buckingham Palace, was lined with thousands of spectators as the The King and Queen of Norway sat in a carriage pulled by six white horses. The Crown Prince and Crown Pincess followed in another carriage pulled by four black horses.

At Buckingham Palace, the Norwegian national anthem was played and HM King Harald inspected the Guard of Honour in the Quadrangle. Once inside the Palace, the guests viewed an exhibition of Norwegian items from the Royal Collection in the Picture Gallery before meeting with the press.

The King said he was delighted to be in the UK. "It feels like home", he stated. "Especially as I was a student here." The Crown Princess was also happy to be in the UK; 'It is a great experience for me to be here," she said.
